ABOUT OUR CATHEDRAL CHOIR

The Cathedral Choir was organised and first sang publicly during the Easter services in 2000, under the direction of Petro Kochanskyy. On the 2nd February 2006, with the blessing of Bishop Paul Chomnycky, the choir was named "Promin Nadii" or "Ray of Hope".

The choir is proud to count a contemporary composer, Hryhoryy Kurtseba, among its ranks. Kurtseba's score of the Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom was first performed on the 30th July 2006; it has since been sung by numerous choirs in Ukraine and the United States.

"Promin Nadii" regularly performs at various Ukrainian community events, including concerts in London, Gloucester, Wolverhampton, Nottingham, and in Tarasivka.

Through its musical efforts, the choir also educates English audiences about the rich history and spirituality of sacred Ukrainian choral music. The choir sings the Divine Liturgy at the Cathedral each Sunday at 10am.
